In his first gay-press interview, Zac Efron talks to The Advocate about marriage equality, gay rumors, and why he almost went commando for his new film, The Paperboy.

On gay rumors:

"I don’t like to live in fear about things like rumors and backlash to begin with — that’s the way I was raised — but I just can’t see what’s so wrong about being gay."

On playing a gay role:

"I’d never take a role just for the sake of playing gay, but I’m always looking for a role that’s challenging, different, and entails some risk, so there’s no doubt in my mind that one of those characters will be gay at some point in the future. It’s always interesting to delve into unexplored territory, and that would be a new avenue for me. I definitely wouldn’t be afraid."

On marriage equality:

"It’s an issue that affects so many people in my life — a lot of my close friends and some of the most influential people around me. I just want them all to be happy. It would make me so happy to see them able to live their lives and do what they want to do."

The Paperboy - Trailer

Yahoo! Movies has debuted the trailer for The Paperboy, which stars Matthew McConaughey, Zac Efron, David Oyelowo, Macy Gray, John Cusack and Nicole Kidman. Millennium Entertainment will release The Paperboy on October 5 (limited).

Men's Health Unveils "Best Summer Bodies of 2010"

With the summer season officially in full swing, the editors of MensHealth.com have announced their first annual list of the “Best Summer Bodies.” Comprised of actors, musicians, and professional athletes, the lists reveal the hottest beach-ready bodies, all of which are featured in an online photo gallery. Accompanying the images are specific workout routines, exercises and tips to help readers achieve these healthy, fit bodies.

Securing the top spot for the men is Twilight star and Men’s Health July/August 2010 cover model, Kellan Lutz. Robert Pattinson is one of America's "MOST WANTED"

Figurative painter Richard Phillips sheds light on some of America's most recognized faces in "Most Wanted", a piece commissioned exclusively by VMAN magazine.

['When tweens witness Zac Efron flip his hair in high-definition, they instantly lose their virginity just like that.']

Set against step-and-repeat backdrops (walls plastered with sponsor logos, which Phillips describes as "utterly worthless and completely harnessed to commerce"), photos of Robert Pattinson, Zac Efron, Chace Crawford, Justin Timberlake, and Leonardo DiCaprio are reinterpreted in pastel portraits, illustrating the temporal stages in the lives of these most-in-demand male celebrities.

['And on the seventh day, the Mattel factory burned to the ground and Chace Crawford rose from the ashes like the most perfect Ken doll gleaming in the sun.']

['Every time Justin Timberlake sings in falsetto, a puppy gets castrated. Bob Barker approves.']

On a grander scale, Phillips begs the question: to what end does it behoove a young man to have that particular label behind him? "Pick me, LV, for your next campaign - don't we look gorgeous together?" And what happens to these pictures of icons leaning against icons? They disappear into pixel dust, shedding light on the collective, willful naivete of our culture that believes the distinctions between the two can be so easily parsed.

Zac Efron: Shirtless, Chasing Geese, & Doing Push-Ups

Last week, Zac Efron made Monday a little bit better, appearing shirtless on the set of his new movie, 'The Death and Life of Charlie St. Cloud'. Today, he's making Monday even better than the last! Check out these recent pics of Zac, still on the CSC set, but looking more solid than I've ever seen him. It looks like those push-ups are working! Well...the push-ups and the cardio he's getting by chasing the geese on the set! MORE HERE.

Zac Efron: "Me and Orson Welles" (HQ Teaser)

Here's an early look at the teaser trailer for 'Me and Orson Welles' with Zac Efron and Claire Danes. I saw a few other postings around the net but they were such poor quality, I didn't want to load them until found a high quality video. Anyway, click the pic or here for the trailer.

Synopsis: Set in 1937 New York, the story centers on a high school student (Efron) who happens upon the yet-to-open Mercury Theatre and is noticed by its mercurial founder, Orson Welles. The man lands a part in "Julius Caesar," the production that catapulted Welles to the top, and spends the next week learning about life and love.

Zac Efron is Shirtless in Vancouver

Monday just got a little bit better! Peep these new pics of Zac Efron shirtless on the set of his new movie, 'The Death and Life of Charlie St. Cloud'.

According to IMDB, 'CDC' is about "a young man overcome by grief at the death of his younger brother. So much so that he takes a job as caretaker of the cemetery in which his brother is buried. Charlie (Zac) has a special lasting bond with his brother though, as he can see him. Charlie meets up with his brother each night to play catch and talk. Then, a girl comes into Charlie's life and he must choose between keeping a promise he made to his brother, or going after the girl he loves.

'The Death and Life of Charlie St. Cloud' is slated for an indefinite 2010 release. [ source ]

ZAC EFRON GRADUATES TO GQ

Zac Efron continues his growth from boy to man, taking the cover of the men's mag - the May 2009 issue of GQ. Here's an excerpt from the article:

That he knows a career built almost exclusively on the squealing ardor of preteen girls, on choreographed dance numbers set to expository pop tuneage so perkily inoffensive it makes early ’NSync sound like Howlin’ Wolf, is something a man has to live down before you can, y’know, call him a man. He seems like he wants to pass a test. And yet he’s not wrong. Cool Hand Luke is awesome! Compared to the movies of the ’70s, the movies of today look like cheap, mercury-contaminated Chinese toys! And Steve McQueen and Paul Newman? They were awesome!

“I mean—they lived here,” Efron says, gesturing out at the city, clearly meaning not Hollywood the place but Hollywood, the state of being. “They made it through all this.”
