ZAC EFRON GRADUATES TO GQ

Zac Efron continues his growth from boy to man, taking the cover of the men's mag - the May 2009 issue of GQ. Here's an excerpt from the article:

That he knows a career built almost exclusively on the squealing ardor of preteen girls, on choreographed dance numbers set to expository pop tuneage so perkily inoffensive it makes early ’NSync sound like Howlin’ Wolf, is something a man has to live down before you can, y’know, call him a man. He seems like he wants to pass a test. And yet he’s not wrong. Cool Hand Luke is awesome! Compared to the movies of the ’70s, the movies of today look like cheap, mercury-contaminated Chinese toys! And Steve McQueen and Paul Newman? They were awesome!

“I mean—they lived here,” Efron says, gesturing out at the city, clearly meaning not Hollywood the place but Hollywood, the state of being. “They made it through all this.”

ZAC EFRON: INTERVIEW

MILK Director Gus Van Sant chats it up with Zac Efron for Interview magazine's April issue. Alongside the interview, a photo shoot with Lithuanian model Edita Vilkeviciute - including a rather "un-Disney" shot of said model laying naked atop the HSM star (see next page).

Said Efron of the photo shoot:

"I think it went pretty cool. There was, like, a giant sandbox in the middle of a studio, and then I just got to roll around in the dirt for a couple of hours. I got pretty dirty by the end of it, so that was fun. It was definitely different from anything I had ever done before. The photographer was really fun to work with," (so "Disney" to leave out how fun the model was to work with too!)

ZAC EFRON IS LOOKIN' SLICK FOR ELLE

Remember last year's photos of Zac Efron in a supposed sex-toy store, posing with a fan, while girlfriend Vanessa shopped amid a backdrop of phalluses? In the latest issue of Elle, Zac explains...

“Oh, man,” Efron says, laughing, sinking into his chair, covering his face. “It was Halloween Eve, like, two years ago! It was just a costume store, and in the back they have an adult section for adult costumes. And this nice older woman asked for a photo.”

"My mom is like, ‘Zac, what did you buy in a sex shop?’ I was like, ‘Mom, calm down, it’s not a sex shop.’ She wouldn’t have any of it. She’s like”—he mimics his mother’s worried tone—“ ‘I knew you were being sexual!’ But she understood. My stocking was full of condoms this Christmas. She buys me the economy box.”

HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL DRYS OUT

Disney has decided to cut Zac Efron's shower scenes from High School Musical 3 because they feel they're much too steamy for Zac's tweeny fans. I guess I can see why though...what with Zac's hard biceps and rippling abs glistening through the water that cascades over his...

ZAC IN D'HOOD

Zac and Vanessa return from their beachin' romp to Hawaii where they attended the wedding of Zac's manager (Jason Barrett).  I love Zac's hoodie.  As a matter of fact, I have the same one.  Hood or no hood?

ZAC EFRON SHIRTLESS IN HAWAII

Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens strolled the beaches of Hawaii yesterday.  Both were in town to attend the wedding of Jason Barrett, Zac's manager.  It's been a while since we've seen pictures like these.  But the wait was worth it.  Check out the couple all dressed up - after the JUMP.

ZAC EFRON IS 17 AGAIN

Zac Efron just celebrated his 21st birthday but he's "17 again" in this film starring himself and Matthew Perry.  The story revolves around a man who mysteriously revertes back to the age of 17 and enrolls in the same school as his children so that he can keep an eye on them.  Watch the tralier above - and for a quick look at a shirtless Zac.
