FOLSOM STREET FAIR 2009 POSTER

Folsom Street Events released their poster design for this year's Folsom Street Fair, juxtaposing the traditional and iconic imagery from a classic 1950's "nuclear family" photo against the irreverent diversity of the fetish community.

Russell Brown, Administration and Special Projects Manager, who managed the creative process of producing the poster (made possible in part by Brian Mills of Titan Media who photographed the images), said - “I really wanted a fun poster, maybe a little bit lighter than what Folsom has produced in the past with the hope of attracting some potential new fair-goers who may have been reluctant before. Especially with the downturn of the economy, I wanted the poster to reflect the three tenants of Folsom Street Fair: Fun, Frolic and Fetish.”

Because of Folsom's attempt to 'portray an alternative to the archetypal image of the family,' the poster was, according to Edge San Francisco, "destined to feature prominently at anti-gay Web sites," providing "jumping-off points for breathless exclamations of alarm and cries of sexual "perversity." The Fire Island philosophy is simple. You wake up and fry on the beach all day, with the occasional cruise up and down the beach to scope out the cuties. In the evening, you get glammed up and go to tea—which is a fun dance party.

The music starts at 5pm, and on weekends, it doesn’t stop until 5am the next day. There’s low tea, high tea, middle tea, an underwear party, and a nightclub called Pavilion, where big name DJs like Brett Henrichsen and Junior Vasquez play.

But Fire Island Pines is more than a party. There are fabulous restaurants, a gourmet market, Starbucks, cute shops, and a gym. Plus, the beaches are beautiful. And there are no cars allowed on the island—so you really feel like you are in a gay paradise.

Norse ELLE has published it's list of the 33 sexiest men of Norway.  Topping the list, Thorstein Helstad, one fo Brann's star Norwegian players.  Honestly, I don't know too much about the men of Norway.  But thanks to Bjørn, you can see a few of them as posted on his blog.

ETHAN SAYS: STAY A WHILE

Ethan Says / Homorific now has PAGINATION!  No, that's not some online blogger's disease.  It's the ability to offer a "Previous" and "Next" page option at the bottom of each page on this site.  And while this might not seem special to some, it's a small (or rather large) feat for us TypePad bloggers (because they don't offer pagination).  With the help of my tech guru friend and EthanSays photo contributor "ELAREE," I now have this feature.  Granted, I only make it possible to go to page 6 (and then a link to the archives), but hopefully you visit often enough - alleviating the need to go beyond page 6.   So stay a while... grab some coffee, peruse some more.  Thanks ELAREE.

REMEMBER THE PARTY at TROCADERO TRANSFER

I know we're all on Britney overload right now, but I just got word that Jeffrey Sanker, promoter of WHITE PARTY, has invited Britney to perform at White Party, VEGAS, taking place during Columbus Day weekend (Oct. 5-8, 2007).  I'm going to White Party, VEGAS, so I can only hope that Britney takes Jeffrey up on his offer because... well, I guess because I'm part of her loyal gay community.  And if Britney goes, Jeffrey's inviting HER BIGGEST FAN too!

“I would love to offer Britney the chance to return to...the Palms Hotel, her own ‘ground zero,’ where all those are saying she so ‘imploded,’ and redeem herself with her very loyal gay community," Sanker said.
