Next Magazine interviews Rufus Wainwright in their May 4th issue. In an exclusive interview, the out musician talks to Next about his new album, the ways nightlife shaped his career and the ambitious support tour he has planned.

Rufus Wainwright - Out Of The Game (Teaser)

Rufus Wainwright returns to the pop foray with his eagerly anticipated new album, Out of the Game, to be released May 1st on Decca. Produced by the celebrated Mark Ronson, this is the seventh studio album from one of the most accomplished, contemporary singer-songwriters today.

A labor of love for both Wainwright and Ronson, Rufus calls Out of the Game, “the most pop album I’ve ever made,” while Ronson recently stated, “it’s the best work of my career.” Recorded in New York in the fall of 2011, the twelve songs are hook-laden, memorably arranged tracks reminiscent of Rufus’ early work, following 2010’s more quietly intimate outing, Songs For Lulu.

From the uptempo opening chords of the title track and first single, to the gospel tinged rock of ‘Jericho,’ through the beauty of ‘Sometimes You Need’ and the emotional pull of ‘Candles,’ this new disc ranks alongside Rufus Wainwright’s very best.

One Day In The Life - Rufus Wainwright & Jake Shears

In February photographer Tim Hailand is releasing the next two books in his One Day in The Life of... photo book series: One Day in The Life of RUFUS WAINWRIGHT and One Day in The Life of JAKE SHEARS. The series gives an inside glimpse into the private lives of celebrities, following them over the course of one day. Both Rufus and Jake provide text for their respective books, and each has a special intro: Elton John wrote Rufus' and Cherry Vanilla wrote Jake's. A portion of proceeds go to a charity of the celeb's choice. Rufus has chosen the Kate McGarrigle Fund for cancer research in honor of his late mother, and Jake has chosen the Elton John AIDS Foundation.

Tim Hailand released One Day in The Life of DANIEL RADCLIFFE earlier this year, and in later 2011 he'll release the fourth book in his series: One Day in The Life of GARETH THOMAS.
