Look for Robert Downey Jr. to appear on the reverse cover-Spring issue of Men's Vogue. This edition of the twice-a-year publication marks Condé Nast's first-ever reverse-bound issue and will be attached to the April issue of Vogue.
Check out these new official stills of Robert Downey Jr. as Sherlock Holmes in Guy Ritchie's movie adaptation of the fictional detective, originally created by Arthur Conan Doyle more than a hundred years ago. Aside from being a detective, Sherlock Holmes was also a martial arts expert, trained in the defense technique of Bartitsu (see above), a defense technique developed in England during the years 1898-1902. Still...it's odd. I've never pictured Holmes having Downey's chiseled body. Never-the-less, I'm looking forward to Downey's interpretation of the character.
Jude Law also stars in the film, portraying the character of Dr. Watson, as can be seen in the 'conversational' photo between Watson and Holmes on the next page. The film opens in November of next year.
Robert Downey Jr.is EW's Entertainer of the Year for 2008. After spending the better part of a decade in courtrooms and behind bars, it seems Downey is finally living up to his potential as a true 'movie star'. ''I do know that I don't want to waste any more time,'' Robert Downey
Jr. says. ''That's why I'm putting my nose to the grindstone. That's
why I'm cranking them out.''
And cranking them out he is. Downey starred as Iron Man, grossing more than half a billion dollars worldwide since opening last May, was hot in Tropic Thunder, raking in $110 million, and next Spring Downey stars with Jamie Foxx in The Soloist by Atomement director Joe Wright. But that's not all. RDJ then stars in Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes opening in November of 2009, and Iron Man 2 in April 2010.
