Pet Shop Boys Releasing Elysium Sept 18

Astralwerks are proud to announce the highly-anticipated release of the brand new Pet Shop Boys album entitled Elysium on September 18th. Recorded in Los Angeles, the album was co-produced by Pet Shop Boys and engineer/producer, Andrew Dawson, who has won three Grammy awards for his work with Kanye West.

Below is a sneak peek of the album track “Invisible” ...a short film by renowned artist/filmmaker Brian Bress. Like several tracks on Elysium, “Invisible” features backing vocals by veteran singers Oren, Maxine and Julie Waters whose long career spans sessions with The Jackson Five to Adele, and singer/songwriter James Fauntleroy. Elysium was recorded earlier this year during the three months Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe spent in Los Angeles.

Producer Andrew Dawson recently said: “It was really exciting for me to work with Pet Shop Boys - the breadth of their career has been phenomenal. They both have incredible ideas and I’ve definitely learned a few tricks from them on making records”.

The Pet Shop Boys added “we wanted to make this album in a different environment. Despite frequent visits there we have never made an album in Los Angeles. Working there with Andrew Dawson has enabled us to make a very fresh-sounding album.”

Slaves to the Rhythm / Pride 2011

Just in time for Pride 2011 comes this a powerhouse music set containing special edits and remixes from some of today’s hottest artists including Kylie Minogue, Katy Perry, V.V. Brown, Swedish House Mafia and Pet Shop Boys. Also featured are a host of exciting newcomers including Toronto’s Diamond Rings, Northern Ireland’s Japanese Popstars, Brit-soul group Graffiti6, the Massachusetts electro-rockers Dom, and English songbird Eliza Doolittle. Most remixes have only been available for club promotion and are appearing for the first time on CD.

Pet Shop Boys - Together / Pepptalk Remix

Pet shop Boys will also release an accompanying video for “Together” directed by Peeter Rebane. The song accompanies visually stunning choreography intended to tell the entire story through the dancers as a centerpiece. Perfectly composed by choreographer Mäar Ago, many different styles of dance are showcased, including Russian Cossack, waltz, ballet, and even break dancing.

The Pet Shop Boys are releasing a brand new five-track Christmas EP on December 14th titled - how fitting - "Pet Shop Boys Christmas". And to kick things off, they've released this Official Pet Shop Boys Seven Days of Christmas Interactive Advent Calendar - allowing you an 'exclusive' day-by-day preview of their brand new Christmas track 'It Doesn't Often Snow At Christmas', taken from the new EP. (It's really a new version of the original...released almost 10 years ago).

Every day during the Seven Days of Christmas a new window on the advent calendar will be opened, giving you an opportunity to hear longer previews of the new track until Day 7, when you'll be able to hear the full thing! PET SHOP BOYS MAKE OUT IN JUNE - JULY ISSUE

Andrew Sullivan chats with the Pet Shop Boys in the June/July issue of OUT magazine, discussing a variety of topics including their vital music, a rather resistant American market, Obama, AIDS, religion, and gay marriage. Here's a couple of outtakes:

When asked if he's ever thought about getting married, Neil Tenant replied, "No, I haven’t. I haven’t been in a relationship where I’ve wanted to, firstly. I was in the city when they brought gay marriage in, and I said, “Well, that’s great, they’re going to invent gay divorce.” And, of course, they did."

And on the subject of President Obama, Tenant says, "We’re crazy about Obama in Europe. We’re all Obama crazy. Everyone thinks he’s sexy. Lovely teeth, as my mother would say." Chris Lowe says, "He’s just brought back dignity, which is an amazing thing to put back on the cultural agenda. There’s a slightly corny song on our album called “More Than a Dream,” which was written when Obama was slugging it out with Hillary in the primaries, and you could feel the potential for the world to change away from the sort of paranoia -- justified as it may be -- to something different. And that spirit is what we’re riding at the moment, although of course we wrote that before the economic crisis."
