Jared Leto in Nylon Guys

30 Seconds to Mars frontman Jared Leto takes the cover of the January 2010 issue of Nylon Guys...and just in time for the release of the band's new album This Is War, out today. To celebrate, Nylon Guys interviewed Jared for their latest issue. A few highlights:

On his really early days (childhood):
“I was born a poor white-trash boy… We were vagabonds, and I had a peripatetic childhood; our mother brought us on her journey of escape from the oppressive nature of the South… It’s been a journey of dreams, but it's also been heartbreaking and challenging.”

On his early days of exploring music:
“I thought art would be my life. It was either that or selling drugs. I always had an aversion to being part of some corporate structure or working in a clearly defined job. I like to explore different things.”

Nylong Guys sails the waters of Vancouver with the enigma that is Zac Efron to discuss his transition from Disney pin-up to serious actor. The "next king of the silver screen" (?) had this to say...

About his Disney fame:
“I try not to look at all of it. You can’t enjoy or celebrate it; it’s not a real thing. The face on the lunchbox and shit—you can’t share that with your friends.”

And this about his new movie, Me and Orson Welles:
“It’s the first time I’ve ever watched a movie [that I’m in] and in the end I’m like, ‘OK! I didn’t check my watch once!’”

Joseph Gordon Levitt is on Nylon's Radar

Joseph Gordon Levitt is "A Brilliant Disguise" in the September '09 issue of Nylon Guys. The GI Joe and (500) Days of Summer star sat down with Nylon's Stephanie Trong at Subway, enjoyed free refills of Dr. Pepper, and dished on a variety of topics. Here's a couple outtakes from the interview:

On his teen years after 3rd Rock from the Sun
"Everyone gets fucked with in high school. I was fucked with because I was on TV. And I think when you're not used to that, the world can be pretty harsh... I was probably a bit of a dick [back then]. I mean, not a dick but I had very simplistic and strong feelings about things, and right and wrong."

Is Joseph hitting the gym?
"I remember realizing, when I played my part in Mysterious Skin, how much overlap there was between a prostitute and an actor. I was putting a lot of thought into what it would be like to have sex for money. It's really similar in a lot of ways, because you kind of have to play a role and satisfy your audience. And absolutely have them be attracted to you."
