Being different can feel very lonely. But from our cocoons we struggle to emerge. Reborn, we take flight on gossamer wings, and embrace who we are. Michael Breyette revisits the fantasty realm with "Metamorphosis".
Genre Magazine's Man of the Year, ***name withheld by request, is captured in Michael Breyette's newest pastel, "Afterglow".
While most of the men in my works are fantasy creations, I definitely think *** has a great look and it was fun to create an illustration around him. *** story adds a bit of subtext to the afterglow theme. After being outed to his family by his brother, he was subsequently disowned. Though a traumatic experience rather than a pleasant one, the process of coming out does provide a sense of relief and inner peace. No more hiding and denying who you are, living in fear of exposure.
He arrives from the city Friday night to a tight embrace and fierce kisses. The weekend is here! It is filled with playing at the beach, a trek into town for some window shopping and dinners out, a little adventuring and just lounging around, romantic walks and laughter. A wonderful weekend with a long distance lover... unfortunately it is bittersweet as it must always end, come Monday. <--- Uncensored. ;)
With the weather outside frightful and the fire inside delightful, is there any better way to enjoy the Night Before Christmas than cuddled up with your sweetie reading 'A Christmas Carol'?
"Since I was after a cozy Christmas feel, the warm glow of a fireplace seemed essential. I already had the layout with the couple on the couch and the winter scene in the window behind them so I was reluctant to alter what I had. Then I realized that I only needed to show the effect of the fireplace, which is what I wanted and the fireplace itself need not be in view." - Michael Breyette
Have a knack for writing? Michael Breyette is launching the 1000 Words Project, a fun way for you to be part of the art. Writers of all calibers are invited to submit short stories based on his illustrations with the ultimate goal of publishing the best of them in a book.
In the past, it's been zombies, vampires, and devils. With this year's "Leader of the Pack", Michael Breyette gives you the sexiest creatures of the night... werewolves! (For the unsensored version, click here!)
While in Maine this summer, I had gone to the public beach at night just as the full Moon was rising over the ocean. It appeared huge and red, as if swollen with blood. When it came time to work on my Halloween piece, I found the memory of that night was still so vivid in my mind. And while I was concerned that rendering the fall foliage at night would be kind of difficult, using rusty browns for the leaves that are bright red in sunlight and dark ochres for the yellow ones worked really well. - Michael Breyette
Meant to post this a whilel ago... sorry Michael! ;) New from Michael Breyette/Studio1088, "Morning Glory". [click here for uncensored version]
A fresh summer morning, the air is clean; the day is new and uncluttered. Your senses slowly awaken, easing you into your day with a soft snowy white towel, crisp cool water, and the pure scents of soap and lotions. The start to each day should be treasured and greeted in all its naked glory.
"The dashing duo get all dressed up for a night on the town, an evening filled with laughter, food, and dancing. Throughout there will be little whispers to each other, a nuzzle, a caress of the hand, a squeeze of the knee, building up until they finally have to bid farewell to friends and guests, and return to their quiet sanctuary for a private celebration for two."
Limited edition Gallery and Studio prints, as well as open edition Portfolio Prints of this commissioned piece are available for purchase. The 20% off Day of Issue Sale ends around midnight tomorrow.
New from Michael Breyette and Studio 1088: Full Service
"Taking the back roads on a hot summer day, it is still possible to find a gas station that offers full service. You pull up to the pumps where you notice a young sweaty attendant trying to keep his cool by licking on a Popsicle. As you roll down the window the icy a/c gives way to the hot billowing summer air. You can't help but let your mind wander as he asks "Fill it?" with his glistening cherry flavored lips." - Michael Breyette
Leave it all behind with Michael Breyette's newest piece, Escape. Says Michael, "Those sexy guys on their sport bikes seem to be everywhere these days, reveling in their freedom out on the open road. With their shirts flying wild in the breeze, and their shorts riding dangerously low, it's no wonder the inspiration came quickly for my latest piece, Escape."
