Take a look at this outtake from photographer Tim Hailand's One Day in the Life of Jake Shears photo book of Jake naked in the shower (click for a better view)! The book - out now - gives fans a glimpse into the private life of the Scissor Sisters frontman. Jake provides his own text for the book, which also includes a special intro by Elton John and afterword by Kylie Minogue. A portion of proceeds of this book will benefit the Elton John AIDS Foundation.
Other books in Tim Hailand's series include One Day in the Life of Rufus Wainwright and One Day in the Life of Daniel Radcliffe. All can be purchased here: onedayinthelifeof.org
In addition, Jake and Tim will be doing local book signings of One Day in the Life of Jake Shears together in Los Angeles and Atlanta. Info on the signings can be found after the jump.
In February photographer Tim Hailand is releasing the next two books in his One Day in The Life of... photo book series: One Day in The Life of RUFUS WAINWRIGHT and One Day in The Life of JAKE SHEARS. The series gives an inside glimpse into the private lives of celebrities, following them over the course of one day. Both Rufus and Jake provide text for their respective books, and each has a special intro: Elton John wrote Rufus' and Cherry Vanilla wrote Jake's. A portion of proceeds go to a charity of the celeb's choice. Rufus has chosen the Kate McGarrigle Fund for cancer research in honor of his late mother, and Jake has chosen the Elton John AIDS Foundation.
Tim Hailand released One Day in The Life of DANIEL RADCLIFFE earlier this year, and in later 2011 he'll release the fourth book in his series: One Day in The Life of GARETH THOMAS.
Learn more about the series at onedayinthelifeof.org, where both books are available for a special reduced pre-order price.
Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters sits down with Scissor Sisters News host Lester Zizmore to explain his lawsuit against the band. As you'll hear in this video, Grohl was traumatized - for life - upon seeing Jake Shears' testicles at a recent concert. Flashbacks, say Grohl, occur regularly and leave him with bouts of anxiety, panic, chills and explosive diarrhea. Grohl is seeking $75 million dollars. See the incriminating photos from the gig in question.
OMG...I totally thought I posted this on 8/12. Better late than never I suppose...especially when it has to do with Jake Shears, shirtless! And his legs! Boy's been workin' those gams! Watch the Scissor Sisters new video for ‘Any Which Way’ (below), out on September 20.
It's not my favorite song from Night Work, but the video is a definite visual treat. Loving these lyrics at 2:27 too: "I'm going to find that man that is the right shade of bottle tan. A man that smells like cocoa butter and cash. Take me anyway you like it. In front of the fireplace. In front of your yacht. In front of my parents. I don't give a damn baby, just take me!"
Scissor Sisters will launch an extensive North American tour in support of their latest album, Night Work, which was hailed as "dirty fun" by The New York Times and included on Spin.com's list of "25 Summer Albums That Matter Most." Upon its release last week, Night Work rocketed to the top of iTunes' Top Pop Albums chart and into the Top 10 of iTunes' Top Albums chart.
The tour will commence on August 21st at Atlanta's Buckhead Theatre and include a show at Terminal 5 (August 24th) in the band's hometown of New York City and a night at Los Angeles' historic Hollywood Palladium (September 11th). The jaunt will conclude on September 16th in Vancouver, BC at the Malkin Bowl in Stanley Park. Scissor Sisters are once again bringing along renowned DJ Sammy Jo to kick off the festivities. The ad promotes his new album NIGHTWORK (coming out June 28th on Polydor/Universal) and includes nude erotic photos snapped by bandmate Baby Daddy from his cell phone. Jake lists his talents as “go-go dancing and stripping” and his “out rate” as $11.99, (the price of the new album on i-Tunes). Jake says, "I am down to earth, have TONS of energy and will make you sweat all night long."
The band launched their 26-city world tour this week. At concerts, they’re distributing Scissor Sisters “cash money” from confetti guns, with the slogan “Make Some Cash, Fuck the Rich.” When held up to the light the money reads www.scissorsisters.com/xxx...leading fans to Jake Shears’ rentboy profile.
