Hugh Jackman is a philosopher at heart, sharing 'essential truths' in the latest issue of Parade magazine. Among these essential truths, he dispels rumors that he might be gay.
"Despite his obviously close relationship with his wife, whispers have persisted since he played Peter Allen that Jackman himself might be gay. "I’d be happy to go and deny it, because I’m not," he says. "But by denying it, I’m saying there is something shameful about it, and there isn’t anything shameful. The questions about sexuality I find more here in America than anywhere else, because it’s a big hang-up and defines what people think about themselves and others. It’s not a big issue in Australia."

Hugh Jackman prepares for the role as "host" of the 81st Academy Awards®. Though this is first time center stage, he has has previously been a presenter.
"Hugh Jackman is a consummate entertainer and an internationally renowned movie star," said producer Laurence Mark and executive producer Bill Condon in a joint statement. "He also has style, elegance and a sense of occasion. Hugh is the ideal choice to host a celebration of the year's movies -- and to have fun doing it."

The Aussie version of GQ has released its yearly list of Australia's most influential men, with Hugh Jackman winning Overall People's Choice award. Other winners include Vincent Fantauzzo as Breakthrough Artist for his portrait of Heath Ledger, and Ledger himself as Actor of the Year.
