During the convo, Carter speaks to all the ASS SLAPPING that goes on in pro-ball:
"I think it's because you have all your gear on and you can't feel anything on most parts of your body, so you instinctively give someone a thwack on a part of their body where they're going to feel it but you're no going to hurt them. It's an acknowledgment of their good work."
