Never afraid to take chances, drop his trousers, or kiss a boy, Scottish thespian Ewan McGregor gets down and dirty for Out magazine’s March issue. The actor sat with journalist Joshua David Stein to discuss his new film, I Love Your Phillip Morris, which premiered at last year’s Sundance Film Festival. The film, co-starring Jim Carrey, languished without domestic distribution for over a year.
McGregor quickly weighed in with why he believes the film didn’t immediately sell, telling Out, “There was quite a lot of talk at Sundance that, ‘Well, it’s not a gay movie. It’s a film about guys who happen to be gay.’ And I was thinking, it’s nothing but a gay movie. It’s about a gay couple, about a man’s sexuality, and he comes out. It’s not the point of the film, but let’s not pretend it’s not a gay film.”
The free-spirited McGregor also spoke bluntly about his first bout with nudity on the stage saying, “So I’m sliding toward the front row of the audience like this,” he says, “butt naked, and thinking, What of the front row? They just got my bumhole coming straight at them.”
