I just got through listening to Del Marquis' 'Runaround', the final independent release from the Scissor Sisters' guitarist, and have to say that it's definitely my favorite in the series. New but at the same time nostalgic, I had a feeling of familiarity with the album. I couldn't quite put my finger on it until I read the album was produced with "fantastically vintage production values - à la production legends Trevor Horn and Mike Thorne".
'Runaround' is the ultimate Maxi-single, designed for the heart and soul, but also for the feet. It consists of three pop 'gems' and five killer remixes. My favorite 'gem' is 'Lies By the Bed' (think ABC) and my fave mixes?...'Litter To Society' - Lifelike Remix (Think Front 242 meets Scritti Politti meets the Pointer Sisters with a modern twist), and 'Character Assassination' - Bullycau Remix (totally reminds me of Erasure - and I LOVE Erasure). This is my take...yours might be different.
Del Marquis - 'Litter To Society' (Lifelike Remix)
Focusing solely on the music, 'Runaround' has no video accompaniment as with Del's previous releases, but it is no less compelling. The album releases September 22.
