Adam Lambert & Out Magazine: The Beef

Apparently I've been so busy with my own issues that I missed the whole bicker-fest between OUT magazine's Editor in Chief Aaron Hicklin and Adam Lambert. So for those who missed it as well, allow me to recap: OUT had a bone to pick with Adam and his team for various demands and cautions they placed on the magazine for Lambert's OUT 100 interview...demands made so that the entertainer would not come out looking "too gay". You know...as in 'gay-gay'. Here's the beef.

Lambert shot back via Twitter, saying: "Dear Aaron, it's def not that deep. Chill! Guess ya gotta get attention for the magazine. U too are at the mercy of the marketing machine. Until we have a meaningful conversation, perhaps you should refrain from projecting your publications' agenda onto my career."

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Lambert continued by saying that the magazine and Hicklin "really crossed a line."

And then, with "no desire to prolong this discussion," OUT had one final(?) rebuttal.

Neil Patrick Harris is OUT 100's "Golden Boy"

OUT magazine continues to roll out the LGBT community's most influential people for the annual OUT 100 issue. Last week, it was a sneak peak at the "School Days"–themed portfolio with the honoree "most likely to reinvent," Chaz Bono.

This week, OUT brings you the 'great gay hope of dude-bro comedy,' Neil Patrick Harris. The 36-year-old "Golden Boy" wasn't the bad boy in high school, he tells the magazine. Instead, he spent his teen years between the set of Doogie Howser, M.D. and his Albuquerque residency as the drama school geek.

"That was a good clique to be in," says Harris, at the tail end of a year when he hosted telecasts of both the Tony and Emmy awards. "You were still liked." He pauses, quirking an eyebrow for his obligatory punchline: "Which in high school is kind of important."

Look for the December/January Out 100 issue, which features the full portfolio shot by photographer Jason Bell, to be in stores in mid-November.

How About Those Emmys!

I enjoyed watching the Emmys last night. Nothing ‘different’ or shocking, or even a surprise really, but I did think it was a better show than last. I especially liked the fact that they grouped the awards by genre (comedy, reality, variety, drama, etc.) rather than make us sit through hours of stuff no one cares about (or more…isn’t even familiar with).

Neil Patrick Harris did an awesome job at hosting…as he always does. And there were two really funny bits that had me laughing out loud. First, Jimmy Fallon’s ‘auto-tuned’ entrance and Neil’s internet vs. television spoof. Watch both above.
