Hudson Taylor for Buick's Human Highlight Reel

Hudson-Taylor-Buick-Human-Highlight

Straight ally Hudson Taylor, 3-time All-American wrestler at the University of Maryland, and current assistant wrestling coach at Columbia U, believes that sports should be for everyone. As such, he created Athlete Ally — a nonprofit organization dedicated to encouraging athletes, coaches, parents, fans and other members of the sports community to take proactive steps to end homophobia and transphobia in sports.

Hudson was featured in the latest Buick Human Highlight Reel - series featuring former NCAA student athletes who are doers, leaders, and game-changers in their communities.

I praise the efforts of organizations and participants such as this and the It Gets Better campaigns and videos generating to get the word out. Unfortunately, it is has demonstrated that these efforts are still 'preaching to the choir' and suicides as a result of bullying continues at a heightened rate, case in point with the recent gay teen suicide that made national headlines. Moral attitudes can't be legislated but bad behavior can be. Its the next better alternative to temper hatred.
