BOOKENDS WITH MATT RIDDLEHOOVER
In last year's WATCH OUT, Matt Riddlehoover caused a stir at LGBT film festivals as a man so in love with himself that he has sex with a blow-up doll plastered with his own face. Now, in the character-driven, Woody Allen-esque dramedy BOOKENDS, Riddlehoover is somber and just as convincing as a man painfully and unrequitedly in love with a straight man. Slated to hit DVD later this year, BOOKENDS is Riddlehoover's follow-up to his gay-themed comedy TO A TEE that took MySpace by storm and revolutionized the way (gay and straight) independent filmmakers utilize the social networking site.

BOOKENDS, which was shot prior to WATCH OUT and had a limited theatrical engagement, centers around eight twenty-somethings who gather together to celebrate the birthday of a mutual friend. Before the evening concludes, relationships are tested, hearts are broken and passions are renewed. The film is packed with laughs and features several handsome faces, like TO A TEE's Jonas Brandon and NYC singer-songwriter Ervin Stellar. Thashana McQuiston (WATCH OUT), Starina Johnson (STUCK!), Tia Shearer (MAKE-OUT WITH VIOLENCE), and Lindsey Hancock (TO A TEE) round out the cast.
Riddlehoover used Stellar's album PAST, TENSE as a companion piece when writing the screenplay and snagged nearly every track for the film's ambiance, including a lovely acoustic cover of Air's "Playground Love". If not for Stellar's sultry sound, you'll definitely want to check out his record for the full-frontal cover art! Jazz songstress Linnzi Zaorski and autuer Steve Balderson also lent themselves to the soundtrack, making BOOKENDS one swingin' good time!
